as thread here showed, going 5dii or iii.
getting used, saves me few bucks.
50mm zeiss lens 799+tax.
compared canon 50mm 1.8 or sigma 30mm 1.4.... zeiss lens worth buying shooting video?
i want make 2 different statements:
1. every market, price curve becomes steep once go in direction of qualitatively top-class offerings. can eat @ restaurant 10 bucks , satiating. can eat @ nicer place 100 bucks , really, good. can spend 1000 dollars on single meal in world's top restaurants. taste difference 100 dollars? not. there slight improvement trained people notice, questionable if justifies huge price difference. metaphor?
2. have worked zeiss lenses , (not leica in experience, still good). sharper details, in outer parts of image. bokeh more delicious if have lights in background etc. have take account buy lens lifetime, can (and will) upgrade camera body more frequently. in 5 years time, not shooting on 5dii anymore, still use lens buy now. don't cheap on lenses!
both of being said: canon 50mm 1.8 or sigma 30mm 1.4 nice glass. if shoot video, fine those. subject of interest not @ edge of frame , don't need additional sharpness there. shooting 25 frames per second, people not closely might still photo. shooting @ 1080p, @ resolution not notice difference in sharpness rigidly.
if doing lot of still photography, recommend top line lens, since make difference , investment. if going video, rather invest in great light , sound equipment first.
