New graphics cards & old Mac Pros

i consider replacing 1 of gt120s. assuming there conventional 2012 mac pro: what's word on graphics card candidates? there educated guess towards downward compatibility older mac pros, 2009s fe? thunderbolt become spoiler here?

 

my personal guess, , guess, we'll see new mp in 2q.

gpu amd 7000 series not officially backwards compatible older mp, work in older mp anyway using power cable adapter.
