here deal: have 1 external drive (2tb) attached airport extreme. use drive exclusively time machine backups. have no partitions , 4 computers backing it. wife , use it, 1 imac , 1 air book each of us.
mine tend work time, hers not, imac. our computers run mix of lion , snow leopord, no correlation between , successful ups seems.
thoughts?
partitioning drive 4 idea? getting macs on lion help?
have spent lot of time trying make sure imac correctly mounts external drive, has appropriate privileges etc, gets "backup drive read error" , other errors @ other times.

tm backup errors network drive commonly caused wifi issues. wife's mac mini (802.11b/g) had lot of tm errors until ditched wifi , moved gigabit ethernet. macbook 802.11n, less 20 feet tc backing never has tm backup problems via wifi.
suggest mount backup shows on desktop "time machine backups" , check disk utility. if fails or goes "deep traversal" write off. grit teeth, delete , start over. first backup best done via ethernet if possible.
