Files Not Visible. Unable to save files.

hi,
have mac book pro , running mac os x 10.7.2. cannot see many of files. (word documents) when search .doc in finder files missing pop , in files appear empty when in them. when go save not appear there after saving. tried taking screen shot show file not appear on desktop after taking. appreciated.
