iMac 27 ram upgrade

so imac should arriving withing next week, question is: order 4 gb 1 ( cheapest 27" 1700), comes 2 x2 gb ram, want upgrade @ least 8 gb bcuz ill working photoshop, xcode etc.

should 2x4 gb around $40-50 , rid of 2x2gb installed? or should install other 2 , 12 gb? not sure if compatible or recommended have different sizes of ram in same computer.

 

more ram = good.

it's fine mix different sizes of ram. have 2 x 4gb modules , 2 x 2gb modules , works great
