Problems booting with hard drive in optical bay

i have ssd in main bay , have stock toshiba 500gb 5400rpm installed in optical bay hard drive caddy. when boot stuck @ white apple screen spinning dotted wheel or boots desktop , mouse , keyboard freezes. has else experienced problem or have resolution? tried 2 separate hard drive caddies , 2 separate hard drive thinking these might problem no luck. please i'm getting frustrated problem , love start using hard drive in optical bay. in advance!

no did same thing first cloned original drive/os ssd while connected usb. made switch , booted right off ssd first time. use option key , boot off original drive in optibay. did use real optibay mectech.
