iPhone and iPad not showing up in iTunes with synch via wifi on new MBA

i've switched imac mba external monitor. i've shifted itunes library , have authorised new computer in itunes, etc.

both iphone , ipad have "synch via wifi" option selected. both on same wifi network mba (just imac was).

however, neither device shows in itunes if unplug cable. cable plugged in, works normal , can synch. when unplug cable, device disappears , itunes can't see it.

imac, both ipad , iphone listed under devices, no matter in house, long on wifi network.

think i've been through every itunes setting (the "prevent ... auto-synching" not ticked).

running itunes 10.5.3, lion 10.7.2, , ios 5.0.1. mba in clamshell mode external monitor connected, , on wifi network without problem.

ideas? missing step somewhere?

just out of curiosity have tried mba open opposed clamshell? maybe weird interaction.

in not, try de-selecting wifi sync. quit/reopen itunes , hard reset ipad while doing so. connect wired. sync. reset ipad, again quit/reopen itunes. reconnect wired, , select wifi sync. see if doesn't trick.
