ok, 2 things. not sure how i've managed use indesign long have without running issue before - suppose never exported color/transparency it.
anyway - 2 problems.
1. when export indesign document pdf - if have text or image drop shadow - export pdf shows box around image. aka color (white on colors - or grey on white background) go edge of frame of that. happens on images or text drop shadow far. there no color in frame @ in indesign document , shows when export pdf.
2. transparencies aren't showing when export pdf either. ie: when have document layered background transparent shapes (or 50% or whatever) show fine in document, when exported colors show lot darker , solid.
know how keep either of these happening? need pdfs show close how print possible.
i'd love find step step answer - there settings need change when export? using indesign cs5 on mac.
thanks!
option a:
pdf exported fine, overprints not showing correctly in acrobat. have overprint preview turned on in acrobat? also, preview application in osx can show same problems @ times when pdf fine.
option b:
pdf exporting screwed. settings using when you're exporting pdf?
i'm assuming you're doing file/export , choosing adobe pdf (print). correct?
settings pick out of export dialog box can have huge effect on resulting pdf.
first decision pdf compatibility you're going choose. pdf 1.3 going flatten pdf when it's being created in indesign. pdf 1.4 , above going allow transparent objects export pdf. version use depends on doing file.
if e-mailing pdf proof viewing on unknown versions of acrobat, best flatten when making pdf.
if using pdf high quality print output, you're going best results letting transparent objects stay transparent in pdf (by choosing higher pdf compatibility).
1 of frustrations indesign pdfs has been type under transparent elements on pdf. on older pdf compatibility, type can raster instead of being smooth vector. can make type appear fat or bold under transparent objects. is, reason, frowned upon in finished printed product.
if going flatten pdf 1.3, make sure settings under advanced/transparency flattener set liking (ie: high resolution).
