Attaching external HD and some OS questions

new forum , brand new mac user here... i'm opening thread in appropriate place.

have packed old pc in moving container (long story) have retained hard drive. have music collected years on drive, , have been using itunes pc. after many years have decided try mac book (mainly because of best screen quality i've ever seen, that's different topic :) )

so, have drive, have enclosure, connected usb - next? how move in music files?
opened finder, cannot see directory structure or similar - looks dumb, thing can see 'movies' or 'pictures'.
now, given background linux os (windows dislike microsoft , philosophy), , having read mac os based on unix, puzzled , wondering how following things, if possible @ all? expecting much?

- how open command prompt (is there command prompt?)
- how see file structure in finder. massive able see home directory!
- how see os system files?
- when connect external drive, how see in finder?
- able read pc hard drive @ all?
- if not, there chance import music other way?

lot start with, in hoping valuable answers, closing first post now. cheers :)

/appications/utilities/terminal.app, shouldn't try until familiar mac basics.

these happen automatically, don't have anything.

yes, plug in. if ntfs format, read only, can read-write ntfs driver mac os x if need it. can drag , drop files straight onto itunes if worked itunes windows.

i recommend learning mac basics first. ;)
