can't copy files to network drive?

using lion, same problem snow leopard. trying copy files networked drive using smb, getting error:

items can’t copied “directory” because don’t have permission read them.

file on desktop, on macbook connected wirelessly within lan.

similar errors whenever try copy folder networked drive. endemic using smb? there's unfortunately nothing can now. can move files drive, folders. make sense? doing wrong here?
