Is there any way of having a SUBSET of your iCloud documents on your iDevice?

i discovered if delete keynote document ipad, deletes icloud account , other idevices. in other words: it's gone!

understand promise of having icloud sync across devices, let's face it, there situations want items a, b, , d on ipad items b, c , d on iphone. meanwhile you'd want complete set of a, b, c , d available on icloud account.

example: iphone own property, ipad company item. want of presentations stored on ipad prefer them not on iphone.

there way of doing this, aside setting second icloud account? (that messy other reasons.) if it's not obvious.
