Sleep not shutdown vmware

hello everyone,

had virtual machine configured when close lid of macbook pro, vm not shutdown or suspend, "freeze". had re-install vm, , cant remember setting or how did it, if helps, remember setting "startup scripts", cant locate setting. awesome if told me was, or way configure it.
