Mail outgoing server problem

hello there,

i've setup mail on (leopard) mac , can receive emails fine problem can't send emails, go straight outbox.

i've been mail, preferences, accounts , changed outgoing server smtp.myprovider.com, says (offline)?

frustrating, i've contacted isp, outgoing server name, told me contact email client outgoing sever...my email client said opposite, isp should let me know outgoing server!

appreciate advise without emails i'm lost:

p.s i've done update check , there's no new updates mail recommended

 

your isp should provide outgoing server. every isp have ever dealt has had mail configuration info various email clients , platforms on web site, including incoming , outgoing server names, ports, authentication, etc.. yours doesn't?
