i've started getting interested in photography,
here few pictures took @ our zoo couple months ago, haven't edited them @ (mainly cause don't know how well)
red birds through glass , kinda dark, couldn't use flash.
pointers can guys/gals give me? , comments welcomed!

the first 1 has dramatic feel light falling on bird's chest. emphases how bird caged, it's best shot. other images pictures of birds, nothing special @ all.
you'll learn faster , better if started document in area, know people , learn how craft picture essay. traditional essay focuses on how different images work tell story hold reader's interest.
follow photojournalists on twitter, read www.photojournalismlinks.com, read time's lightbox section otherwise you'll add cruft exists out there.
if don't want take journalist approach, shoot diary format. take pictures of same things, build collection of pictures of bins or road signs, figure out why better others. build collections , on time you'll progress, think, 'i shot way before, if tried this'. use 1 focal length , exhaust of possibilities.
importantly, involves spending time subject, don't tourist snaps , moves on, take picture , ask if have done better.
oh , don't shoot @ 5 foot 8 inches either. on hands , knees, stand on box, says didn't stand there , press click. again @ journalists , notice how have framed images.
