No Recovery Partition question

tried file vault new late 2011 mbp last night, , got message cannot due or other. same thing find mac, no recovery partition. weak sauce.

question: have 2 linux partitions (one backtrack5, other swap space), win7... reinstalling lion screw up? of course reinstall mac hd portion. have refit boot linux.

experience here?
