MacPro1,1 + 4870 = Graphic Snow

i've had issue long time , moved laptop forgot it. find myself wanting use old macpro , problem has resurfaced. bought 4870 512mb card apple , installed. display looks great, internet great, playing video @ times great...however in fcp7 , fcpx real problems occur. graphic snow in playback of footage. covers viewer , displays in colors of purple, green, white, etc. it's irritating , know card works 1st gen macpro.

there way update card somehow? maybe new firmware? i'm not experienced hardware end of macs or kind of thing. help?

 

at first glance looked faulty ram , / or overheating. though seems connected fcp(x) may driver problem.

os running , did run software update utility check latest updates?
