Gmail/Exchange Sync not Giving me 'Sent Mail' or 'Drafts'

i got new 4s last week, , i've synced gmail through exchange option per multitude of instructions online.

however, though i've checked inbox, sent mail, , drafts in "mail folders push" menu, sent mail folder not syncing.

instead of paper airplane symbol shown in push menu, in mail folder shows 2 'sent mail' folder pictures if scroll bottom, both of them empty , not sync sent messages.

i've tried experimenting going 'edit' , deleting 2 sent mail folders showing, says "mailbox not deleted on server".

also, when make drafts on iphone, not appear in online gmail - somehow not connecting, though have checked under 'push' menu.
