Best Way to Transfer HD 2 Macs

hi all,

want transfer on imac macbook pro information on hard drives identical. best bet wipe macbook first , migrate either imac or external hard drive? there more preferred way?

wish there easy way keep 2 current 1 another, work starters.

there chronosync synch 2 macs daily, , can use migrate assistant of course, not meant daily synching.

migration assistant / setup assistant information:

setting-up new mac old one, backups, or pc
which includes:

• using setup assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using setup assistant on lion
• using migration assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using migration assistant on lion
• transferring files 1 user account another
• transferring home folders not on startup volume
• transferring applications
• problems after using migration assistant
