Resolved Power Mac Server G4 - can't upgrade

perhaps title bit of exaggeration - can upgrade, can't figure out how!

here's rundown. picked g4 server , getting around setting up. it's got ultra160 scsi controller 10k rpm drive in , has (from can tell) 2 boot partitions - 9.0.1 , 9.2.1. neither particularly useful me because of old junk on there, , plus, applications use machine os x.

because primary drive scsi can't target disk. have few ide drives in there don't know how make them masters, or if want to.

put in tiger server dvd. opens, sometimes, if machine booted, wants restart machine, leads booting 9.x.

got lost in open firmware it's foreign me. can of.

holding cmd+alt+shift+delete @ startup not forego startup disk , boot dvd, should (i'm told).

- stuck useless old machine because there seems no way me install tiger. not leopard (it's slow, yeah yeah know can dupe it, won't, yet). aware it's ppc tiger disk, mounts , launches installer sometimes, that's it.

ideas?

shortcuts starting up.

start cd: hold down "c" key while starting computer. (place osx install disc in optical drive first.)

start using mac os x rather mac os 9 (if both on same volume): hold down "⌘-x" while starting computer. no dash, command , x keys @ same time.

select startup disk (on computers): hold down "option" key while starting computer. (to open optical drive when choosing startup disk, press command-period.)

try these , report if helps.
