Need help accessing Windows 2008 server via SMB

i have 2 users not able map hidden $ files shares on windows server 2008 file server.

error rec'd 'the folder can't opened because don't have permission'

what's strange able map these hidden shares via go--> connect server no problems during past 3 months, 1 day started occurring.


no permissions changed on file server, nor updates server itself.

thoughts?
