bought new battery on ebay a1278 macbook 13, upon installing it, wouldn't start charging. tried old battery again , charged fine. put new battery in waited 5 min , started smoking pulled plug immediately. apparently new battery shorted. had remove logic card find smoked part next battery cable connector. appear hi wattage smt resistor between battery cable connector , ram socket. @ point there's nothing left of it, melted lump. wonder if knows value is, doesn't hard replace. have in there.
i don't think particularly helpful, think needs said: never buy computer parts on ebay, unless you've had positive prior dealings seller. saving few bucks isn't worth risk of trashing computer.
