iMovie export problem

took mp4 video , added black fade beginning , end of , when export it, video quality noticeably grainier , 4x original file size. worse quality , 4x more megabytes.

tried tweaking every setting think of responsible can't figure out.

here's screenshot of settings i'm using. have 1280x720hd selection resolution because when select "current dimensions" exports smaller current , don't understand why -- know because open original file , it's bigger 1 export imovie.

using imovie '09 version 8.0.6.
