Record cassettes to Mac HD?

what easiest way copy cassettes hard drive can either record different cassettes, or cd's?

 

i did when bought first mac, e mac 10 years ago. need separate cassette deck, find in old hi fi system. must have output on rear send audio mac. used cable 2 phonos ( rear of tape deck ) red , white going in 3.5mm jack, headphone plug. connect line in on mac ( not headphone port) line in takes audio in, headphone jack doesn't. used peak record tapes , edit. know garage band work, messed around while i'm more used peak. know peak has full editing options , guess garage band probs have less options should ok, if not might need buy audio editing software peak ( not cheap ) .
takes bit of experimenting set up, that's difficult bit once you're , running, straight forward.
