How to update CardIris on Lion Air (new) w/o old un-installable original?

here's dilemma:

old: macbook pro (2009) running sl
new: macbook air (late 2011) running lion

scanner: fujitsu scansnap s300m (love it)
software in question: cardiris

given how many times i've migrated data computer computer computer, decided clean installs on air, avoiding decade's worth of transferred "stuff" coming across. result, there's not old, non-functional version of cardiris on air...only on old mbp (i use scan business cards, import contacts).

cardiris update lion won't install unless sees older sl version.

older sl version won't install on mbair...which means there's nothing there recognize.

downloading lion update isn't problem--it's won't install without seeing present can't installed.

have contacted folks behind cardiris twice, no luck.

ideas....?
