Ram Question (3 Beeps)

hey,

bought new 2011 macbook pro 2.2ghz w/ 8gb (kingston value ram kt-mb1333/4g) few weeks ago off someone.

having trouble formatting macbook, , every time booted osx dvd or boot external drive, there 3 beeps repeating stuck on apple logo screen during start up.

took genius bar, , reformatted directly through there network cable, without using disc. still 3 beeps, , not able boot off external hard drive. think it's faulty ram , not right 1 installed.

now, should fix issue?
want order 8gb kit owc.
3 beeps go away after upgrade?

suggestions appreciated.

open up, remove ram sticks , reseat them making sure they're snug.
