FileVault 2 on OSX Lion just started - Can I put my computer to sleep?

i started encryption filevault 2 on osx lion on new late 2011 macbook.


1) can put macbook sleep, restart it, or shut down? if of these things, mess encryption , destroy hd? have leave macbook on night?

2) can still use time machine normally, correct? time machine backups encrypted also? i.e if wipe computer hdd , restore time machine, restoration encrypted since hdd encrypted during time of time machine backup?

i wouldn't, in middle of operation impact data's integrity. why risk corrupting data, let run until finishes. don't use fv, may recover tend operate conservatively when dealing data.
