TimeMachine - Unable to complete backup.

very new timemachine appreciated.

i'm using lacie p9230 2tb model hd.

has worked, initial backup completed without hitch. having issues making hourly backup, getting "error occurred while creating backup folder".

getting bit frustrated now. had create partition hd working in first place.

best way use this? should turning power on hd before booting computer, or wait until i've booted? also, once i've turned computer off, safe turn hd off?

 

i'd check time machine disk errors (and maybe in system logs io related errors).

time machine problems i've had (and took me while figure out) due faulty hard drive. start failing every time 750gb external drive got around 550gb full.

don't rule out because "but drive brand new!".

mine (sent rma, , been fine since i've got replacement drive back).
