Taking Class Notes on a MBP

my son taking college classes , giving him mbp. since got ipad2 dont use much.

need him program taking , organizing notes. guess word or pages do. have both on there if there better program love him. great kid , works hard grades.

open suggestions. if guys think ipad2 better notes, please tell me. can't see typing on touch key board whole lecture.
