a funny story not long ago:
magsafe adapters apple supply dangerous least. on mac, adapter (a old t-shape design) decided stop working, , worked when in position. i've had happen loads of adapters in past, not 1 made apple. thought i'd wait out , see happen. planning replacement soon, had newer 1 on hand anyway, not right voltage pro. bad idea still use start, surfing interwebs do. when had @ connector laptop. fine, apart melting. connector literally melting. phoned apple straight away, arranged appointment, took in , walked out replacement. great apple service once again, despite melting adapters.
with obvious exception of defective adapters, that's not true. vast majority of these adapters never melt or have problems whatsoever. if weren't true, see thousands of news articles millions of adapters being returned, , apple recall them.
