i pretty outspoken people should "make do" few months until bugs worked out new cases new ipad.
however, many of you, needed/wanted tide me over. bought new targus vuscape temporary solution.
let me start saying not targus fan. find products uninspiring, cheaply made , in general consumer oriented. nothing "pro" wares @ all.
also, use case may unique. work in large-scale custom woodworking remodeling, 100% of customers being businesses. go business, pitch on makeover reception areas, board rooms, conference rooms, etc. take high-res digital footage of "as-is" situation, rapid mockups/sketches of "will be" vision, overlay , morph little video shows them space looks versus when done. ipad plays big role in , we've developed custom software make sales pitch. effective tool so.
ipads (we've several across team) need go board room construction site boardroom several times in 1 day. case needs durable , tough enough survive heavy travel , use, decent enough handed or displayed in boardroom setting customer/prospect.
enough use cases, think important give context you'll possibly better understand review points.
picked targus vuscape via amazon prime. i've used on 3 weeks, including 30 hours on plane rides , in dozen meetings clients , on construction sites.
pros:
-its durable. vinyl not atrocious looking vinyl. holds dirt, grime, construction grit, etc. wipe off few times day , go between construction sites , boardrooms equally.
-it protects reasonably well. corners protected , cover thick/padded while rigid. there's still lot of ipad remaining exposed nothing touch when lying flat on surface.
-it looks professional, not 'artsy.' outside, looks similar other black notebook. targus rolled edges of vinyl looks 'burnished' , stitching (although white, don't like). contains ipad doesn't draw attention otherwise. neither ceo's nor construction foremen have handled fragile egg or dirty rag. that's important me tool , want people interacting such. there's no fancy catches or awkward buckles. plain get, nothing clever nor sophisticated.
-its functional. has 2 good, stable display modes. has third "keyboard" mode major con in book i'll in minute. can leave open flat book or fold on (almost way). in fact, little semi-rigid "clip" portion of case serves nice handle when cover folded , holding ipad/vuscape combo one-handed.
-stylus loop handy , required you'll see below.
-magnet works should. said, don't use feature on ipad.
con:
-the cutout in back. think looks stupid , via optical illusion apple logo looks off-center (maybe not optical illusion , off-center). i'm not worried scratching apple logo may putting on icarbons skin on part. regardless...i think brand-worship feature stupid.
-the semi-rigid clip holds cover closed when not in use prevents unit sitting flat when cover folded on back. you'll see in 1 of pictures below, can't if insist on flat ipad. people hate makes using ipad in case difficult on tray tables , like. me, seldom use ipad way not big of deal.
-the "third" display mode supposed used soft keyboard and/or when handwriting notes on ipad. not @ stable. if leave pen or stylus in loop, stable helps 'catch' ipad , keep slipping down flat. if don't keep pen/stylus in there, ipad flatten out in seconds itself, or instantly once touch it. stupid design. flat out doesn't work. tend keep 2 stylii me (a bamboo sketches, jot pro writing) no issues me leaving 1 in loop annoyance targus didn't reinforce 'catch' work intended. useless catch, there's no reinforcement or rigidity offered in flap @ all. bad design.
summary:
work temporary case until better comes along. functional case needs basic, everyday protection. little better typical targus fare in terms of fit , finish. not recommend going use typing feature lot flat out fails perform in position. if use separate keyboard and/or don't mind leaving pen/stylus in loop, serviceable in position.
pictures in various positions follow:

thanks nice review on vuscape case.
have question: dislike typing position of case due unstable loop can hold case in position when there stylus in holder.
judged photo seems doing wrong? think case supposed go under small flap before loop holding stylus?
