my imac has 500gb hdd. photos , family videos @ least 750gb , increase on time. thus, of photo/video won't fit on internal hdd.
in addition external hdd, i'd cloud storage such carbonite , others. since can't of photo/video onto internal hdd (not enough storage space), i'm not sure best handle is.
swap out imac hdd larger 1 put of photo/video onto internal hdd, use external hdd , cloud storage?
i use crashplan online backup source, don't think carbonite gives storage use please. i'm pretty sure it's backup solution crashplan is. may want dropbox can purchase 50 gb's (99 yr) or 100 gb's (200 yr) , use on pc, mac or ios device.
if you, i'd buying 2 tb external , getting crashplan online. once backup has completed, you'll able access of files ios device or computer.
