Newbie iphone wifi question

is using wifi on iphone 4s while @ home increase speed in receive emails? or should use when browsing web , downloading apps. btw, i'm sprint, know why use wifi. question emails, trying save battery life here.

 

i use wifi time on phone @ home. doing right things!
