this thread super long experience i've had in past 5 weeks.
have been hong kong ifc mall apple store 11 times in 5 weeks early-2011 15" high-res macbook pro fixed. no words can describe disappointment, anger , frustrations.
extremely caring, cautious , meticulous macs. wipe them lint-free microfiber cloth , cleaning solution weekly. machine has looked new since purchase in july 2011.
on january 9, 2012, brought machine apple store repair because tab key magically fell off. apple's policy seems to replace entire top case keyboard or trackpad issues. 5 days later, when went pick machine, bottom aluminum plate not flushed. genius told me come next day , finish fixing then. didn't when came back.
told wait 3 days allow them re-order top case , replace again. 3 days later, when came pick machine, aluminum lid scratched.
genius generous enough offer display replacement, said take 2 weeks. allowed bring machine home during time. had never received call since then, until decided call store in third week. genius told me display ready.
went store next day let them replace display. 4 hours later picked machine. confirmed there no scratches, bought display protector somewhere else, , went home.
after applying protector, proceeded starting using machine. realized replaced wrong display - low-res version installed instead.
went store, again, next day , complained it. store manager offered replacement macbook pro me. thought over. wasn't.
3 days later dead pixel appeared on screen. called store , confirmed fix machine, , went store. told 5 7 days required them order display, , again allowed continue using computer @ home until ready.
3 days later received email saying display ready. went store drop off machine next day. realized serial number of older machine entered, , therefore asked genius it. told me apple had complete history of repairs done mac , not problem.
when picked machine next day, discovered scratch, again. time on top case. offered replace top case , talked manager on duty , assured me okay.
hours later went machine again, time keyboard wrong, apparently due wrong serial number being entered. launchpad key became dashboard key, albeit function remained to activate launchpad.
genius told me replace top case again. next day picked machine , fixed, albeit ton of fingerprints appeared on screen. did not complain fingerprints suspect display replaced old, refurbished 1 revenge, when sent computer in, left protective stickers on, when picked machine, weren't there. apple logo scratched, impossible if sticker left on. disappointed , signed off.
apple portrays company pays extreme attention perfection , excellence, apparently have yet experience that. won't bring machine repair there ever again, instead go authorized repair center.
the time , effort spent writing story have been better spent on phone apple. you're going here (maybe) sympathy.
