my son's mbp stopped booting , apple store said hd issue, bought him ssd replace hd came machine. low , behold, wasn't hd problem. replaced hd ssd , booted optical drive reload os. ssd not seen in disk utilities. put old hd on external connector device allows connect via usb , seen fine. in fact able recover data. don't want spend $450 replace/repair logic board, bought bracket owc allows hd or ssd installed in optical drive space. sorry long explanation. here probelm. can't figure out how tell mbp boot drive in bracket. put hd in try , boot. tried holding c down during boot. tried option key during boot gray screen. appreciated.
i'm not expert in this, did upgrade drive ssd , removed optical bay. anyway, noticed boot screen (where hold option key) show devices can boot from. so, have put sort of osx disk in optical drive if want boot there or of other drives. has sort of os.
