Powerbook 1400 and system installation CD

probably issue discussed somewhere on forum seems not lucky. last friday happy day received powerbook 1400 in great condition. 16 years old dream old times completed , more exited powerbook fast , modern macbook.

hope able find sort of peripheral connect powerbook net (probably pcmcia card?) before start play system , driver installation want backup os. problem not have installation cd (my powerbook equipped cd - no fdd). there chance download or rebuild installation cd (bootable) appropriate os? see on http://support.apple.com/kb/ta48312?viewlocale=en_us rather full macos history clear picture how prepare cd 1400.

may kindly ask forum-gurus sort of advise?

cheers

iirc, somewhere on original installed os system software install folder contains floppy disk image maker , disk images. may have been deleted or drive may have been erased. if it's still there, grab copy of (somehow). may able make "net-install" of disk images cd install @ later date.

in fact, grabbing complete copy of hard drive's current contents before proceeding advisable, if believe it's not necessary. never know folders got moved previous owners.

of course, mean getting pcmcia ethernet card or using scsi disk mode. try appleshare on localtalk (serial port), damned slow should transferred.

iirc, original 7.5.3 special version, , pb1400 never ran 7.5.5 did ship 7.6.1 , 8.0.

retail macos 8.0 or later should work pb1400 never known fast (nor macos 8.0). support 8.0, 8.1, 8.5.x, 8.6, 9.0.x , 9.1
