Why does everyone insist on comparing America to Europe ?

one recurring theme have noticed in these forums tendency compare america europe/gb, , use europe/gb example of "how things should be", if these countries perfect, crime free, , have no problems.

example, latest school shooting quick "jump on gun" , bash america , gun culture , bring europe/gb example of "how things should be", guns being either banned or more tightly controlled.

same thing goes health care, taxes, gas prices, etc...many people here hold europe/gb prime examples of how things "should be".

fact is, america entirely different country, entirely different society/culture, , has different history "that other part of world".
