i had apple @ imac, reason being glass cleaned on inside lcd replaced. waited week, went , picked up, disappointed fact lcd wasn't replaced.
called apple, sent certified technician come install lcd panel. came from, farther closest apple store near me. anyway, came , replaced lcd, , tested make sure good. was, , asked him leave glass on, since going cleaning insides out. apparently 3 years of dust accumulation looks pretty gross on inside
.
ended taking motherboard out, clean heatsinks , reapply thermal paste on both gpu , cpu. did have excess amount on, part done lot better 11 17" 2.3 i7. ended taking hard drive out , swapping 80gb intel x-25m , tagging temp sensor on it.
after putting together, noticed cpu fan runs around 3700 rpm. tried resetting smc, no luck. can use fan control or smc , turn cpu fan up, won't go below 3700 mark.
1 thing note, have not put glass on, not have suction cups. know plugged in correctly, taking hdd temp sensor 1tb stock hd put on ssd installed.
be?
ps. apple certified technician @ apple store straight told me imacs not use thermal grease (i asked him if reapply some). hahahahaha dummie.
did resolve this? have installed ssd 2008 imac aluminum 24" , hard disk / optical drive fans fine, cpu fans running fast.
