Connecting to iPhone Software Update Server

whenever try update iphone 4s, notifies me of update hangs @ "connecting iphone software update server" when try update directly on iphone, times out after few minutes while searching update. have no problems internet , else works perfectly. cannot update reason. have never been jailbroken either.
