Can anyone explain this...?

hello all,

not problem need with; i'm confused something.

father installed lion 2010 15" mbp, , said me on phone able wireless internet reception in upstairs of house. rejected nonsense 2 reasons: number 1, there's never been workable reception upstairs laptops (pc or mac) since father went wireless 6 years ago, , number 2, why hell installing new operating system improve wireless reception?! surely that's hardware/walls-and-floors issue...?

he's right. i've come home few weeks, , after installing lion, can access internet wirelessly old bedroom. when using snow leopard - both on mbp, , imac i've since sold - , windows vista - on 2008 sony vaio - couldn't. how has lion managed achieve when windows , previous iterations of os x have not?

in advance,

dh.

first of all, thread title's not descriptive of question. might want edit post (hint: go advanced change thread title) , fix it.

have noticed same thing on imac in basement. never got wi-fi reception sl , before. gets excellent , usable reception lion. reason combination of factors:
  • newer (i.e. more features, fewer bugs) wireless drivers
  • better methods coping wireless interference
  • support more features in wireless routers
these things taken result in improved reception.
