Audio Interface problem

hi.

got tascam us-1641 audio interface mb pro has trouble detecting. it's absolutely fine , work day, other (most) times flicks on off again in tascam control panel. takes ages looking , freezes mac in process, fails load. tried different orders of booting - mac first or unit first, , have downloaded version 2 driver. using usb2 cable. couldn't seem download firmware tascam site- mac crashes every time!

does interface have own power source, or "pulling power" through usb cable?

thought perhaps macbook's usb port isn't putting out enough bus power interface , running.

workarounds use interface's own power supply (if 1 provided), or use 3rd-party "power brick" (if there input one), or, use powered usb hub between macbook , interface.

of course, problem different….
