has else encountered issues late 2008 mbp 240 gb intel 520 cherryville? has sf-2281 controller intel's custom brewed firmware solved issues plaguing sf-2281.
when first put in drive , booted snow leopard install disc, not see ssd. if go under under serial-ata in system report, see message "there error while scanning serial-ata devices." restarting , trying again yields same thing.
go take drive , pop pc laptop , try installing linux make sure not doa. did fine. installed fast , booted fast. operated expected.
went ahead , located lion disc , reinstalled ssd mbp. booted , ssd showed up. partitioned extended journaled , proceded install. during installation, noticed did not know original samsung 128gb ssd. installer stated had 2 hours install. thought weird, being ssd , not remember taking long 128gb ssd. time after 1:15 remaining, feel asleep watching paint dry.
few hours later woke seeing display lit dvd drive spinning @ full , me staring @ grey screen circle , horizontal cross going through it. think blinking. went ahead , held power button turn off , deal later.
know ssd have bottleneck issues mbp since not sata 3, price pass along intel's reputation , 5 year warranty.
else issues?
