Help Understanding IMAP folders/ iPhone 4

hi

have setup iphone 4 , windows live mail (sky broadband) using imap. seems working ok, can send/ receive , seem syncing ok.

understanding folder setup on phone , wlm. got rid of folders ( mail, spam) didnt have many messages have 2 trash folders on phone. 1 inbox , sent items , 1 under gmail, dont gmail side of things, imap

deleting first trash folder because deleted mail going both trash folders on iphone deleting twice. gives me option of removing trash under gmail when press edit. cant seem remove first 3 folders.

there easy way round ? great,
