17-inch MacBook Pro 5,2 (early 2009) hinge broken

the hinge on 2009 macbook pro 17-inch appears have broken. screen can in 1 position , unable support @ other angle. if moved down far, screen rapidly fall until lid closes; if moved far, fall way position looks if screen may fall off. moving screen causes snapping sound.

advice on this? take genius bar, it's 3 years old there no applecare , guess charge me replacement?
