VMWare Fusion and Mac Office

i have xp machine on fusion , lion , mac. possible set excel , word on mac default excel , word program xp machine uses. have few programs need have excel , word in order export spreadsheets (quickbooks , 1 other program). right i'm using old version of excel pretty old , have newer version of them on mac. possible quickbooks , other software recognize this?
