just bought imac (which love!) , in process of moving files old windows xp computer. both computers available on network, hardwired.
on course of last few years, have manually backed photo files simple tech external hard drive xp computer. not sure how move these photos, plugged in simple tech drive mac , surprise, see photos, able drag them iphoto , simpler thought be.
however, can't seem make work other way. drag photo imac onto simple tech drive.
assume, now, after reading bit on formatting, simple tech drive formatted xp , why goes in 1 direction. or not reason , i'm not doing right.
purchase wd passport mac , wonder if able drag , drop photos mac windows computer same way simple tech drive. know can format passport essential both windows , mac, work time machine?
appreciate thoughts on this, non techie i'm still pretty new this.
the simpletech drive formatted ntfs, os x can read from, not write to. if format fat, or ex-fat, both windows , os x can read , write. if want write, os x, drive ntfs, google how there utility gives capability mac, although don't know if free.
