Looking for advice on crashed iMac ...

hi .. have 2009 imac ssd drive , 2tb drive.

last 6 months, i'd kernel errors every , again, , reboot , things fine. few days ago, computer totally froze, , when turned on, shut right off. tried booting recovery partition, nothing worked.

took apple store yesterday , hooked external drive , did diagnostic test , genius said needed fresh install of lion, corrupting it.

did (for reason though, took 4 tries him it), , took computer home , ran time machine. worked should 12 hours, did reboot few times in time ... anyways, now, it's where turn on, there's status bar on bottom fills halfway , imac shuts down.

apple genius (not being sarcastic lol) said corrupt program/application might causing that. find hard believe ... can understand corrupt program crashing or not starting, possible not allow computer turn on? other thing when computer crashed few days ago, hadn't installed new/etc .... ???

 

i'm betting on hardware issue. i'd suspect ssd.
