Help Itunes wont read Iphone after restore

hello need bad, traded htc iphone 3gs 16g, jailbroken , had cydia idk if thats jailbreak, anyways went itunes , did , restored cause heard thats how rid of cydia, after iphone asked me activate , asked language , location , such, wont activate via wireless wifi or itunes, when plug itunes said cant read sim card when have 1 in , know not broken cause works other phones, im stuck , idk do, iphone wont let me unless activate , idk how, please reply fast!
