LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series 6TB Review & Custom Specs

i've been following thread philipma1957 (shortcut3d deserves praise) on seagate thunderbolt adapter , impressed thoroughness of , shortcut have been able find out compatibility, etc.

going try , same lacie 2big thunderbolt series enclosure because know there extreme potential enclosure consider i've been able regular old sata iii mechanical hdds.

lacie 2big thunderbolt series uses 1tb platter hdds seagate (model st3000dm001 & specs) , can see why using them. run cool, stupid fast, , quiet consider performance give in enclosure 100% aluminum .

performance numbers
anandtech did great review on these drives , able best numbers anandtech found in review.

result - 378.8 mb/s



read/write using aja - 1920x1080 10bit video in 4gb size

results - reads of 344.9 mb/s & writes of 332.5 mb/s

have corsair performance pro 256gb ssds on way me end of week put sleds , find out if enclosure support full sata iii spec of 6gbps. if will, can see reads being 800-900 mb/s range , writes on there well. if send me drives review in raid, please let me know. have couple of left on wd caviar blacks (wd2001fass) going see how perform.

update

worked overnight on thursday store ready new ipad launch since up, drove down fry's wait until 8am them open. purchased 2x samsung 830 256gb ssds (both notebook kits) , promptly came home , installed them in lacie 2big thunderbolt series.

performance numbers
disappointed , saddened announce internal sata connection appears limited sataii not seeing near 800-900mb/s range.

read/write using aja - 1920x1080 10bit video in 4gb size

results - reads of 435.9 mb/s & writes of 357.5 mb/s

threw in blackmagic disk speed test compare aja , results similar across board.
