iMac 5,2 w/OS X 10.6.8 - Cubase LE 5 - ZOOM R16...problems

note: main question @ bottom in bold

starters, here's reference apple forum post dealing well: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3152729?start=0&tstart=0

so, purchased zoom r16 recorder:interface:controller , purchased imac 5,2 intel core2 duo w/ os x 10.6.8 install copy of cubase le 5 comes r16.

installing cubase le 5 went fine. no problems cubase le 5 far (but that's not saying because haven't been able use way intended, packaged w/ r16 being controller interface cubase).

problem i'm having r16 drivers & os x 10.6.8

i'll walk through install & pairing of r16 & point out problem:

starters, guide provided how connect r16 computer running mac os x , enable audio input/output or control r16 control surface cubase le 5. installation description uses mac os x v10.5 example. not os x 10.6.8.

after cubase installed, next step installing r16 drivers. gets foggy me. running installer goes fine. gets way "installed successfully" box pops , says there problem install.......huh? next comes pairing r16 imac.

first, press "usb" labeled button on r16. done. second, select "audio interface" , press "enter" button on r16. done. third, select setting option "[continue]" , press "enter" button on r16. done. connect usb cable r16. done. (at point, directions state light next [device] port flashes....that doesn't happen in case. in case it's on solidly. not flashing. screen on r16 should have words "audio interface" flashing. doing properly). plug in usb cable imac. "interface" flashes indicating device has been connected properly. doesn't happen in case. in case "audio interface" still flashing. perhaps directions have typo , mean "audio interface" not single word "interface." highly plausible japanese machine, meaning it's translation japanese. happens time. anyway, moving on...

now, directions state to: open "applications" folder on imac, "utilities" folder, , double click "audio midi setup." done. however, window pops me doesn't shown in directions. directions show window similar i'll try , represent via typing:
________________________________________________________

hopefully, made sense. used ( & ) represent drop down menu fields & [^] represent button opens drop down menu.

i've attached photo of pops me.
http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=325342&stc=1&d=1329706188

can see attachment, it's not same. i'm assuming why error popped after "successful" install of driver?

then, when open cubase, directions tell access "devices" menu, select "device setup..." , click "vst audio system." done. once window opens, under vst audio system, you're supposed make sure it's designated "zoom r16 driver," it's not there. click drop down asio driver , exists "built-in whatever" no zoom driver. didn't work.

so here's question! since i've heard works fine on os x 10.6.7 according forum on apple's website linked @ beginning of post, should find way roll os x 10.6.8 os x 10.6.7.....my imac did not come recovery disk, don't have copy of it. should use bootcamp , install windows xp sp2 (i have copy of that)? work? seeing how it's driver issue, wonder if using windows operating system through mac hardware resolve issue. ideas?
