Bluetooth and iPhone

hi all

on previous phones - if turned bluetooth on ( in public place ) - i'd whole list of other bluetooth devices in range ( computers phones etc. ).

iphone 4s doesn't seem 'see' other devices. put phone next girlfriends phone ( iphone 4 ) - turned on both bluetooth, , couldn't see each other - let alone pair.

nor can 'see' macbookpro - mbp can 'see' it, , pair way around.

seems odd.
